"MAGICAL VORTEX"
As reading is the window to knowledge, abstraction is the window to perception," it has been said. In a lustrous palette and a musical style of tempered expressionism, Spanish born, Arizona based artist Joseph Breton paints abstract images inspired by the colors and forms from the world around us and by the thoughts and theories, emotions and daydreams from within himself. Like windows of color and light, Mr. Breton's works are composed of radiant shapes that melt into harmonious patterns of light and form. Rich texture and shapes fluctuate between precise definition and indetermine fields of color.
Mr. Breton's large dynamic works' wheel color is the indefatigable "protagonist" - whether buoyant and bright or deeply saturated and mysterious. Most of his paintings incorporate a veritable spectrum of color, thus revealing Mr. Breton as a master in his medium. With twists and turns of paint across the canvas, Mr. Breton's sumptuous paintings reflect a sense of freedom from conventional techniques. At once atmospheric and solid, his corms float in a thick liquid that threatens the solidity.
Through color, shape, and texture, Mr. Breton's canvases demonstrate a deep, personal dialogue between the artist and his canvas. A consummate traveler and a thorough observer of beauty in the abstract, his artistic sensibility is informed by a diversity of lands and cultures. Represented abstractly in his artwork, an appreciation for universal forms and sensations is described with handsome grace. Mr. Breton works small miracles in tones and basic unit forms that move gracefully from shape into organism.
